We do not ask for names or make appointments. Next Step operates very much like a doctor or dentist referral service. Our database lists licensed counselors, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists in private practice throughout the Chicagoland area. It is a way to get important comprehensive information about licensed professional counselors, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists, their philosophy of treatment, insurance affiliations, and areas of expertise so you can find the therapist best suited to your needs. You make your own appointments and deal directly with the therapist of your choice.

Potential clients can call our toll free number 888-332-2110 and a trained operator will guide the caller by asking a variety of questions to determine their specific concerns and needs. Then the caller is provided with appropriate referrals.
Our website is another way potential clients can access the extensive database of information we have on our members' services. We offer a valuable service that provides a clearinghouse of information for people searching for a qualified and licensed clinicians.
Next Step attracts callers and visitors to the website through advertising. We have ads in most Yellow Pages throughout Chicago and the suburbs. We advertise in the Chicago Tribune. We routinely publish informational materials to EAPs, physicians, and other referral sources. Next Step advertising consultants and media planners team up to create promotional plans using television, newspapers and radio to promote our service.

Our History
Next Step Counseling Referral Service began making referrals in June of 1994. We have grown to include a large group of member clinicians with a wide variety of diverse interests and areas of expertise. Our members are listed by location, insurance affiliations, special services, style of practice, philosophy of treatment and much more. We continue to keep the most extensive information about our member therapists in order to provide the best referrals to potential clients.
