I completed my clinical training at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University and am currently on the faculty at Northwestern University Medical Center. I have been practicing clinical psychology since 1984, working with men and women of various ages with diverse concerns.
My clinical work includes brief and long term psychotherapy, marital/couples counseling and individual counseling. People seek help for emotional concerns that they find difficult to understand, resolve, or put into words. Sadness, frustration, anger, nervousness, and worry are the feelings that often give a starting point to the work of counseling and therapy. Alternatively, painful symptoms or disturbing behaviors may emerge. In therapy, a better understanding of emotional issues, personal difficulties, and individual goals helps to direct a process of improvement. An empathic, compassionate, and reflective therapeutic relationship supports the gains of insight and understanding and facilitates growth and change.
